The rare Barbastelle and greater Horse Shoe bat have been seen near Javaline park next to the flying field, this could halt the building of the incinerator as the heavy toxic smoke emitted would poison the bats.

Club Meeting 
The next Club meeting is on Wed 15th Aug 7.00PM,  a club flying session and fun event, on the slope if  windy or electric gliders with an all up last down session on Minchinhampton Common if the wind is light. A decision on the venue will be made  and  published On the SCSA web sight at 6.00PM on  Monday 13th  

followed by an indoor heli flying contest against BGGC

Saturday 1st September          MSA OPEN E-SOARING CONTEST Upton − Fish Meadow

Rules for the competition consist of the competitors flying in 10 minute slots. Launching on the sound of an audible signal and landing as near to possible to the completion of 10 minutes with a spot landing. Landings achieve 50 points for model completely within the circle and 25 points for part of the model in the circle. If the model overflys the 10mins then the landing bonus is lost and time is deducted for every sec over the 10min slot time.

Flight time commences on starting the motor with a max motor run of 30secs or reaching height of 150metres. Any type of height limiter acceptable providing it can be set to 150m plus max 30sec engine run. The competitor with the highest points score is awarded 1000 points and the rest are expressed as a percentage of the winning score.

We will fly as many rounds as possible before the fly-off rounds to decide the final placings.

Competition date is Saturday 1st September at Fish Meadow Upton upon Severn, Worcestershire. Start time 10.30am. Entry fee £5.00/person payable on the day.

 Much Marcle

Each year, in September, we run a model aeroplane show featuring large models. This is organised jointly by the HMAC and the Large Model Association (LMA) to promote the BMFA & LMA. It is one of the LMA major six events nationwide, and the only event in this area devoted to the larger model. Profits from the show go to various local good causes, and also towards club expenses. The confirmed dates for our next show are 1st & 2nd September 2012. (confirmed at our club A.G.M on 17th November 2011) The provisional dates for the following year are 7th & 8th September 2013.
