SCSA

We are pleased to announce that we have secured a new venue for our SCSA meetings.
Doug Garland and I have agreed, with the Bristol and Gloucester Gliding Club (BGGC) at Nympsfield, that we can run our Winter meetings in their building and use their bar too.

We are proposing to meet there on Wednesday 15th February at 8pm and for members to bring along any interesting models or building project for all to see

We  decided not to run the "Paper Aeroplane" competition on our first meeting,
before we have got to know the BGGC, in case they think we are trivialising the proceedings, but we do intend to run the "Paper Aeroplane" competition maybe in March.
So please come along in February and show your support for the new venue.
Directions to the meeting are shown on the following link:

We have had 19 replies to the SCSA survey that we emailed out earlier this week,
thanks to all who have submitted it.
The survey will be closed off on Wednesday 1st Feb, so if you still have not submitted your opinion, please do so soon, here is the link again:

Slope Flying

 Monday
Me and Sqeela flew on Selsley in the afternoon, Sqeela's Mini Blade flew  well early afternoon,  my experienced Pro liked the lighter condition later in the afternoon, but failed to spec out, I think the lunch time rain spoilt the thermal lift, the afternoon sun not strong enough to warm up the ground
The Para glider in the photo landed out

A steady breeze at Frocester

Thursday
We flew at Frocester, some rain, sleet and hail, but still better than working

 Friday
both strong and light lift at Frocester

Saturday
I flew on Minchinhampton, and failed to find much lift

Below the flight log for my Supra, it shows I found lift and failed to make good use of it'

A height limiter was used set to 150 metres

Sunday

I went to Upton  in the morning and Minch in the afternoon, low cloud stopped me getting to the 150 metres my cut-out was set to.

My flight log shows there was weak lift  again, there was about 1 MPH of wind coming up the gentle slope, that helped the times and some marginal lift, I had to descend quickly to start with as visibility was poor.

The device is a RAM3 logger
