Belgrade August 2012 – Dorcol Cup event for F1D, F1M, F1R(35cm), F1L and Living Room Stick.

This is an annual event and has been run in recent years immediately preceding the European or World F1D Championships, this year is a World Champs year and the Brits were out in force with 18 people travelling to compete or support the Senior and Junior teams.

Even by Belgrade standards it was hot – 40+degrees outside, not a cloud in the sky, and from 30 to 37 degrees inside the hall made for a sticky event, though the temperatures did drop slightly towards the end of the week during the World Champs.

HLG Contest Monday 27th
I made the trek north to attend the F3K (hand launch glider) nationals over the bank holiday weekend.

Gliders were at the 'Wetlands', some big fields near a wildlife centre about half an hour from the main National’s site at Barkston. F3K was on the Sunday, along with the bigger F3J gliders that were a couple of fields over. Accessing the field was slightly interesting given the rain we've had, but it was a good venue for F3K

Turnout was low, with only seven pilots in total. Not really sure why this was, probably a combination of the majority of the usual competition pilots being based in the South and our team pilots having been in France for the European championships the week before.

We enjoyed good conditions, with only a couple of showers to dodge in the afternoon. The thin turnout meant I managed to secure third overall. One percent more and it would have been second!!

No photos again I'm afraid as it was another two slot comp, so I was always pretty much always flying or timing.

The open Esoaring was a success; 17 entries and excellent weather
Hello to everyone reading this, thanks to the Malvern Club for inviting the Esoar league flyers, and any other glider people, to their Fish Meadow flying site.
A competition was run to slightly different rules,150 metre launch height, plus different landing scoring, I enjoyed the landing system, much easier to score 50 points, and the launch height, being the same for everyone, makes no difference to the comp.
We were all made very welcome, we were really lucky with the weather, and a 200mile round trip was very worthwhile.
5 of the 6 in the fly-off were Malvern club members

There was an indication that this will be repeated next year, and I would say to all come and join in you will enjoy it,

PS.To Malvern Members, please enter and try one of the Esoar events next year.
