Computer nerd bit

from Jim

Windows Defender is a free program that helps you stay productive by protecting your computer against pop-ups, slow performance and security threats caused by spyware and other potentially unwanted software. Windows Defender no longer supports Windows 2000 as mainstream support ended in June 2005.

Indoor comps Proposed posting

“This year a number of indoor competitions are set to take place. The first will be run by Dave Laycock who has kindly agreed to build a number of identical chuck gliders for us to compete with in a similar multitasking  format to last year. Dave will reveal all on the night.

The original idea, to have  pylon races has now firmed up a little with two  classes proposed.

1. A one design class  “the Mini-Sumo”, 3D plane.  See previous email for details. A challenging model to build and fly.

2. Open pylon race.   Probably no more than two models in the air at one time to minimise collisions. A wide variety of models are suitable.

The meeting on Friday   25th November, besides the usual sport flying will be an opportunity to discuss and firm up on these events.

Do come along and have your say and see what appeals to you.”

Winter comps
My main interest in the winter would be Upton for a variety of reasons, not least the ability to jump in the car for 5 minutes to warm up. However some have expressed an interest in flying the hills as well. To that end I propose the following:-

 1)    To run a comp on the first available Sunday ( weather wise ) in the month. The weather dictating the venue.

2)    To hold one in each of December, January and February.

3)    Type of comp to be determined according to the conditions on the day, but would suggest things like - Speed, cross country on the hill and precision duration, all up last down at Upton.

4)    A call on the venue and comp to be made on the Saturday.

5)    Comps to start at 10:30.
