Computer nerd bit
While down loading some music I accidentally downloaded a WMA file instead of an MP3,  when I tried to open it, it installed Uptown adware. This kept popping adverts and was soon  removed.
Unless you are an expert in media it would be wise to avoid wma files, perhaps there are Adware programs that will detect  infected wma files

News List, Does size matter?

Last week's news letter was little large and took half a day to download on Dialup or 0.2 secs on broadband. I would like some feed back from those on dialup. Occasionally people send items that are to big to download. Look up telnet and use it to log onto your mailbox and delete oversized messages. I will try to keep the newsletter below 300K. Not being able to read or write well I prefer pictures, we can see these on the Photo pages of the club website, follow the link at the bottom of the photo page for more photos. Yes it's the same as the A-ha record the sun always shines on my photo page. There was nice sunset to finish the month with.

Stef who used to work at Antics has sent us some photos, they are posted at http://www.ebley.plus.com/limbo/?M=D
They are sorted in date order and the oldest are deleted to make room. The web software makes a list of these, so I only have FTP them.

I am trying to import my backup address book, please use the links at the top to join or leave or remove duplicates, if you did not receive this letter as an email, I have lost your address please add yourself again with the link.
I have changed the address and will find out why my club address is not working

Sunday 19th August  Woodspring E-Fly 2007 THE ALL ELECTRIC DAY
The condition of the site gives concerns for the event.  If the ground does not dry up enough, the event will be cancelled.  Check the Woodspring site or here for the latest

Although we have every intention of proceeding with the Woodspring Wings E-fly on Sunday 19th August 2007, I must issue a warning to all those intending to attend.

The Woodspring Site was inspected on Saturday 21st of July and is completely waterlogged. It will not support foot traffic let alone vehicles. Unless we get the minimum of two weeks of dry warm weather prior to the 19th it will not be possible to proceed.

The following mobile numbers are available from the 15th August to the 19th August for flyers and spectators to check the status of the event before travelling.

Some of Laurie's fancy vinyl graphics from his computerized laser cutter.
He has a day job when not on nights so the prices will be reasonable to fellow model fliers.
The two models are excellent for slope flying, Andy's Whisper floats better than the MiniBlade. I flew the Miniblade fast and very stable

A simple field charger

A couple weeks ago my all singing, all dancing and playing stupid tunes charger went wrong. It had stopped raining, I wanted to go flying and my transmitter had a low battery. I quickly made up a lead, two crocks a power plug and 6V 0.5amp torch bulb to limit the current.  A 2 amp 12v lead acid supplies the power. Using this my transmitter was half charged by the time I had got to the slope and set up my model

A friend has repaired my charger an open circuit resistor, but I still use this simple charger. The bulb would be safer in a plastic tube.
If you use this to charge a 4 cell packs you would need a 12Volt bulb.

Monday Michael launching his Discus

Tuesday, a day of light winds and some good thermals, photo Brian's Depron model on Minchinhampton

Wednesday, a good breeze swinging  between Frocester and Selsley, I went to the wrong slope twice. Frocester is OK in a westerly as the bowl can be used, but Selsley can be horrible if the wind goes south of west. There was some power flying on Minchinhampton in the evening, photos on the club web pages

A warm sunny day at Haresfield on Sunday with plenty of lift. Bryan flew his Graffiti and EPP Stan Yeo model. The other photo is me flying Mike's Zagi
